About

The Taūla Clinic

Throughout life each of us will experience situations that challenge us, and most of the time we will work through these challenges on our own and continue on in life without too much hassle.  At other times, some challenges will leave us feeling confused, unsettled, overwhelmed or stuck.  The Taūla Clinic offers therapeutic services that can support you through life's challenges, changes and uncertainties.

Anne-Marie will collaborate with you (at your pace) to identify your therapeutic needs and goals and discuss how therapy may be helpful for you.   The role of your therapist is primarily as a professional listener and a collaborator alongside your journey. Guided by your goals, our therapists will provide therapeutic rapport, skills and techniques to support you to meet your identified needs.

The name Taūla means anchor and is derived from Vagahau Niue, the language of Polynesian people from the Island of Niue in the South Pacific.  The Taūla Clinic aims to provide a safe space (harbor) where you can metaphorically anchor down during challenging times.   In therapeutic work, an anchor will also represent the knowledge, actions and values that you engage to hold steady in unsettling situations or uncertain times.  In collaboration with your trained therapist, your identified anchors are explored to understand, guide and strengthen your ability to cope when faced with challenges, by promoting awareness, choice, calm and clarity.

" People are just as wonderful as sunsets if you let them be. When I look at a sunset, I don't find myself saying, "Soften the orange a bit on the right hand corner." I don't try to control a sunset. I watch with awe as it unfolds."
